Abstract:This paper proposed a methodology for quick groundwater pollution risk assessment after a NAPL spill. This methodology inludes three successive procedures: (1) the site investigation procedure, which includes site investigation and data collection (e.g., chemical properties, hydrogeology); (2) the calculation and assessment procedure, which includes evaluating the immediate risk and calculating the time for contaminants to reach groundwater; (3) analysis and decision making process,which includes evaluating different contaminant removal options to help dicision making. The application of this method is demonstrated by a hypothetic spill case.
