Abstract:Through simulation experiments, we studied the characteristics of the ammonia release from sludge drying process under varying temperatures, and sought for factors that dictate the process. We established a collection and treatment system for ammonia released from sludge ammonia, in combination with the low-temperature sludge drying process. Our study shows that during a four-day exposure to air, ammonia is released at a average rate of 0.11mg/(g×d), with a burst release observed at the first 30 minutes of the exposure. Ammonia is released simultaneously with water evaporation, and its releasing strength is correlated with the drying temperature. Therefore, lowering temperature is effective to prevent ammonia release during sludge drying process. Furthermore, multistage wet dedusting is also effective to remove ammonia and other harmful gas (e. g. H2S) as well as dust during sludge drying process.
