Abstract:Anaerobic ammonium oxidation (ANAMMOX) for the biological treatment of coking wastewater was investigated. An ANAMMOX reactor was successfully started up after 115d, at 34℃ and pH 7.5~8.5, with a hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 33h. The volume loading of total nitrogen (TN) up to 160 mg/(L·d) was obtained with 80 mg/L NH4+-N and 90 mg/L NO2--N in the influent. The maximum removal of TN, ammonia nitrogen and nitrite nitrogen reached 75%, 86% and 98%, respectively. The organic composition of influent and effluent of ANAMMOX reactor was investigated with GC-MS measurement, and the results showed that phenols were of easily-biodegraded organics in coking wastewater and low-concentration phenols from shortcut nitrification process could be removed in ANAMMOX reactor.
