Abstract:Studies and offensive odorant analysis on RSCs and NH3 produced from sludge at 0, 5%, 10%, 15% lime application rate, by using Jerome 631-X Hydrogen Sulfide Analyzer and static absorption test method respectively, were carried out under laboratory condition. Slow-release character of RSCs produced from sludge was observed after the lime was applied into sludge, and the application of lime decreased the production amount of RSCs from sludge, i.e. under the equiponderance condition, production value of RSCs from lime-stabilized sludge reduced to about only 15% of that from original sludge after 380 minutes, besides, under the equiponderance condition, release value of NH3 (5.03×10-4mol) from lime-stabilized sludge was about 72 times of that (7.00×10-6mol) from original sludge after 12h incubation, as showed that lime amendment promoted the transformation and release of NH3 obviously. Furthermore, even a small amount of lime application could reduce the offensive odor intensity obviously, and the aim of odorant control could be achieved basically under the condition of highly mixing of lime and sludge.
