Abstract：The paper based on the inter-provincial panel data from 1997 to 2009, make use of directional distance function model to measure the evaluate the coordination of environment with agricultural development,explore its spatial and temporal characteristics,and the evolution of driving mechanism. The environment and agricultural development coordination were quite different in different provinces. A higher level of economic development, better conditions for agricultural production in the eastern of country, more harmonious in the agricultural development and the environment. The impacts which effect coordination of agricultural development with environmental was multifaceted, such as level of economic development, agricultural structure, agricultural infrastructure investment, agricultural resource endowments, agricultural environmental management institutional and so on.
