Abstract:Base-catalyzed decomposition (BCD) of hexachlorobenzene (HCB) was studied in an independent-designed reactor. The effect of reaction temperature, sodium hydroxide proportion and different catalysts on the HCB removal efficiency, dechlorination efficiency and intermediates has been investigated. The HCB dechlorination efficiency improved with the increasing of reaction temperature and sodium hydroxide proportion. When the sodium hydroxide proportion was 1:5 (HCB: sodium hydroxide, m/m) and the reaction temperature was 360℃, the removal efficiency and dechlorination efficiency of HCB reached 99.97% and 91.08% respectively in 4h. The HCB dechlorination efficiency was up to 77.51% instead of 38.99% by using iron power as the catalyst in 1h at 330℃.
