Abstract:Based on the Logistic growth model, the effect of 2,2′,4,4′-tetrabromodiphenyl ether(BDE-47) on theinter-specific competitionof two marine bloom-forming microalgae, Heterosigmaakashiwo and Kareniamikimotoi, were investigated with different initial biomasses. The concentrations of BDE-47 were set at 0.05 and 0.25mg/L, and the experiment lasted for 18days. The results showed that different initial incubation biomasses played an important role in the competition of two kinds of microalgae. Then the competition results were similar in all treated groups with different biomasses in all treated groups. The value of maximum environmental capacity (K) and the intrinsic growth rates(r)increased for K. mikimotoiwith the increasing concentrations of BDE-47 while those decreased for H. akashiwo. It seemed that BDE-47 exposure broke the competitive balance to make competition gradually shift in favor of K. mikimotoiat some concentration.
