Abstract:To estimate the area and spatial distribution of available flatland in Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, the constraints of ecological sensitivity, ecological service function and ecological risks to current land use pattern and DEM (digital elevation model) were introduced. The results suggest that only about 1% of the territorial areas of Yunnan and Guizhou provinces was physically and ecologically suitable for development in 2010. Most available flatlands were distributed in central Yunnan and Guizhou regions, respectively.
